Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a popular facial treatment that rejuvenates the skin's natural ability to produce collagen by creating micro injuries forcing the body to repair itself faster and produce new healthy skin cells.
Needles gently prick the skin to create controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body to repair itself. As a result, this speeds up the regenerative system, increases protein production, and restores skin condition to a healthier state and more youthful appearance.
Collagen is the protein responsible for our skin's structure, strength, and elasticity. We produce approximately 1% less collagen every years. This process thins the skin and leads to wrinkles over time.
Microneedling can benefit anyone with fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tones, and scarring such as pitting from acne scars or stretch marks, large pores, or anyone wanting brighter tighter, and more youthful skin.
Skin will be red, sore, and a little raw. Micro balm healing ointment will help alleviate redness within 24 hours. Peeling and dryness will occur within the next few days. Re apply moisturizer throughout the day as needed and keep skin clean, and free of makeup and skincare products.
It is safe to do microneedling every 6 weeks.
You will have tighter, brighter, smoother, and more youthful skin with improved texture.
Microneedling is 100% effective in accelerating collagen production, seeing greater results with deeper penetration. A brighter, tighter, and overall smoother texture becomes noticeable usually within 4 to 6 weeks.
Avoid the use of harsh chemicals, acids, peels, retinol, exfoliants, UV rays, and abrasive skin treatments two weeks prior and 2 weeks after. Take into consideration the skin is hyper sensitive during the healing process and the risk of irritation is greater.
It is recommended to avoid caffeine, alcohol, blood thinners, fish oil, and omega three's for 72 hours before and after. These products prevent blood from clotting which hinders the skin's ability to heal quickly.
Most conditions improve with each treatment. 3 to 6 treatments are recommended using caution with skin prone to hyper pigmentation which can take longer to heal.
Topical numbing is applied for your comfort.
Microneedling has a shorter down time and less chance of darkening and bruising than other skin resurfacing treatments. Microneedling is less invasive and better suited for very sensitive skin. Results are similar in effectiveness in correcting minor skin problems.
